Hi, I’m Tasnim.
Born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Now based in Houston, Texas. I started A Taste of Bangladesh mostly as a way to save recipes for my future American children. I wanted them to have something real to hold onto — something that would bring them closer to where their mother is from. Something that smelled and tasted like home.
What began as a personal archive slowly became something more. Over the years, this project has grown into a space where more than 75,000 people connect over memory, food, and culture. My work has been published in ICE Today, one of Bangladesh’s leading lifestyle magazines, and cited in The Daily Star, the country’s largest English-language newspaper.
But what means the most to me is when someone makes a recipe and says, “This reminds me of my mother,” or “I’ve never cooked Bangladeshi food before, but I tried this and it tasted exactly how I remember it.”
I share these recipes to stay connected to where I come from, and to create something my kids, and maybe yours, can one day return to when they miss us.
