Bangla Chinese Sweet & Sour Prawn/Shrimp

Another quick and easy Bangla Chinese dish, this Sweet Sour and Spicy Shrimp has that deshi flair we all love.

Pairs amazingly with some steamed white rice, or try it with my other Bangla Chinese recipes – Fried Rice, Soy Sauce Chicken, Shrimp Stirfry, Spicy Batter Fried Chicken.

You can also use this same recipe with Chicken instead of Shrimp!

Just replace the shrimp with sliced or cubed chicken breast/thighs to make a deshi style sweet and sour chicken.

Some tips:

  1. Prep your sauces/veggies/all other ingredients before starting to cook.
  2. You can either mince the ginger or slice into large chunks. Mincing will give you more flavor but you might taste little bites of ginger in the sauce. If you’re not a fan of ginger you can slice them into large chunks so they are easier to avoid while eating/you can pick them out. Add the chunks at the very beginning if that’s what you’re using so it has extra time to fry.
  3. Feel free to skip the shrimp marinade to make it even easier

You can watch the full process in this video!

Then, throw in the onions and bell pepper. Stirfry for a couple minutes until the veggies get some color on them.

Then pour in your sauce. Let it simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens, taste and adjust salt and sugar if needed.

Add in some split green chilis a couple minutes before taking it off the heat, and garnish with some chopped green onions
